Precalculus 02/01/10

cos(x) and its transformations

y=cos(x)

Domain= (-∞,∞)
Range= [-1,1]
Period= 2π

y= cos(x)+2

Domain = (-∞,∞)
Range= [1,3]
Period= 2π

y=cos(x+2)

Domain= (-∞,∞)
Range= [-1,1]
Period= 2π

y=2cos(x)

y= 2cos(x)

Domain= (-∞,∞)
Range= [-2,2]
Period= 2π

y=2cos(x)
y= cos(2x)

Domain= (-∞,∞)
Range= [-1,1]
Period= π

Helpful Hints:

Transformations are the same as the sin(x) transformations

y=cos(x - π / 2) is the same as y= sin(x)
