Precalculus 02/02/2010

Today in class we used the TiNspire calculators to investigate the graphs of tangent and cotangent before figuring out their base graphs and some of their transformations.
Tangent base graph: y=tan(x)


The basic points of a tangent graph are:





This is true only where n is an odd integer


Asymptotes at x = -pi/2 and pi/2




y=2tan(x)




This stetches the graph in the middle by a factor of 2


















Cotangent base graph: y=cot(x)



The basic points of aa cotangent graph are:






This is true when n is an integer








y=cot(2x)
